In America The early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the child prodigy category. As a person with Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and loved playing sports. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. As a result, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. When she was 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
